Sustainability Initiatives

Our Sustainability Story
Our mission at Lorama Group is to improve our world. As a leading manufacturer in the Coatings, Adhesives, Sealants and Elastomers (CASE) industry, Lorama Group’s core values are the foundation of our business. The Management and Team at Lorama are dedicated to ensuring the protection of the environment as an integral part of the company’s culture and work to encourage our suppliers and customers to partner with us in this important endeavour.
By developing environmentally friendly raw materials with reduced volatile organic compounds (VOCs), CASE and Ink manufacturers can formulate products with better indoor air quality and minimize their environmental impact. Sourcing renewable and sustainable raw materials, optimizing energy efficiency in production processes, and promoting product recyclability or disposal are some of the ways we contribute to a greener industry. These efforts not only align with growing consumer demand for eco-conscious products but also contribute to a healthier planet and a more sustainable future.
Our Environmental Policy states that we are committed to making environmental management a vital part of our operations by:
- Complying with all applicable environmental regulatory requirements and compliance obligations
- Considering environmental risks and opportunities in business strategies and initiatives in the most practical manner
- Taking every reasonable step to familiarize and train our employees in our environmental values
- Facilitating and encouraging employee participation in activities to minimize pollution and reduce waste
- Promoting and implementing energy-efficiency and energy-saving practices throughout all our operations to foster environmental sustainability
- Committing to sustainable water-management strategies including water-saving technologies to preserve environmental resources
- Reducing emissions from our operations through comprehensive regulatory measures and technological solutions to minimize the environmental impacts
- Communicating our environmental values to all employees, guests, suppliers, and other interested parties
- Working towards continual improvement of the environmental management system to enhance environmental performance.

Lorama’s Environmental Management System is certified to ISO 14001:2015 for the design, development, and distribution of raw materials for the CASE Industry. This is our commitment as a Global Leader in Bio-Based and Colour technologies.

Carbon (GHG) Reporting
In 2023, Lorama Group began tracking our Greenhouse Gas (GHG) emissions and published our first Carbon Accounting Report in accordance with the ISO 14064 and GHG protocol. This report enhances our sustainability performance by providing a precise evaluation of the GHG emissions resulting from our activities and facilities.
Summary of 2023 GHG Inventory Findings:
- Total emissions from January 1 to December 31, 2023, were 356,261.09 metric tons of carbon dioxide equivalent (tCO2e)
- Scope 1 (direct emissions): 113.04 tCO2e
- Scope 2 (indirect emissions): 757.55 tCO2e
- Scope 3 (other indirect emissions): 355,390.5 tCO2e
This report has helped us identify key sources of our emissions, allowing us to develop effective reduction and mitigation strategies. By pinpointing the primary sources of GHG emissions, we can target areas for improvement and further reduce our overall emissions.

Environmental Social & Governance
Our environmental and sustainable procurement initiatives along with our commitment to employee and customer welfare, and good governance principles combine to form the basis for our ESG framework. To lend credibility and transparency to our ESG system, Lorama partnered with EcoVadis. EcoVadis is the world’s leading provider of business sustainability ratings.
In May 2024, Lorama was awarded a Bronze Medal EcoVadis rating for our sustainability achievements. This recognition reflects both the quality of our sustainability management system and our commitment to minimizing our environmental impact and promoting transparency throughout our value chain.
This achievement highlights Lorama’s focus on:
- Environmental responsibility: reducing our waste and energy use, implementing green practices.
- Labour and Human Rights: ethical labour practices, ensuring a safe and healthy work environment.
- Ethics and Corporate Governance: conducting business with honesty and integrity.
- Sustainable Procurement: partnering with suppliers who share our sustainability commitments.

Sustainability Goals
Along with continuous improvement of our Environmental Management System, setting and tracking ESG targets, we have specific sustainability goals for the period leading up to 2025.
We have successfully decreased our water consumption for manufacturing by more than 50 % since 2023 and will continue in 2024 by keeping water consumption below 53,000 m3, with further reduction in 2025 measured per unit of production.
By adopting measures such as recycling, sedimentation and filtration, we will eliminate the wastewater generated in production by December 2025.
With improvements in inventory control, we have also set a goal to reduce the rework of manufactured goods by 50%, which will reduce energy, water and other resources used for this activity.
Green Seal Product Verification
Several of our products including our polysaccharide resins, pH modifiers and colorants have been assessed and verified for compliance with the specific criteria for raw materials in the Green Seal Standard for Paints, Coatings, Stains, and Sealers (GS-11, Edition 4.0).
Green Seal is a nonprofit organization that promotes sustainability to reduce the environmental impact of many products and services. Products and services that meet their standards are given the Green Seal Certification Mark, which helps consumers make more informed, environmentally responsible choices.
